Step-By-Step: How to Take the Perfect Mold for Custom Grillz

1. Step 1

   Read the Instructions First

   Before touching the putty, review the instructions included with the kit or watch the brand’s official video (each company may have slight variations). Understanding the timing is crucial, because mold putty hardens quickly.

2. Step 2

   Mix Both Putties Quickly

   Take the white and colored putty pieces and mix them together until they turn into one solid, uniform color.

   • Knead for no more than 10–15 seconds
   • Avoid leaving streaks
   • Work quickly—the timer starts now

   If the putty begins to harden or crumble, discard it and start fresh.

3. Step 3

   Shape the Putty and Load the Tray

   Roll the putty into a smooth log, then place it evenly inside the mouth tray.

   • Make sure the putty fills the tray fully
   • Smooth it out so it’s level and not overflowing
   • Don’t press it too hard—it should sit gently

   This ensures an even, consistent impression.

4. Step 4

   Bite Down in One Smooth Motion

   Stand in front of a mirror. Bring the tray into your mouth and bite down firmly and evenly, making sure:

   • Your teeth go straight down
   • You do not wiggle or move
   • You do not bite twice
   • You keep the tray centered

   Hold for the full recommended time—usually around 5 minutes.

5. Step 5

   Hold Completely Still

   Once you bite:

   • Keep your teeth in the same position
   • Do not talk
   • Do not adjust the tray
   • Do not lick, pull, or move your tongue around

   Movement = distortion. Distortion = remake.

6. Step 6

   Let the Putty Fully Harden

   After 2–3 minutes, gently test the putty—if it feels firm, it’s ready.

   Carefully remove the tray by pulling straight down (or up) and avoid twisting or bending. The mold should come out cleanly and hold its shape.

7. Step 7

   Inspect Your Mold

   A perfect mold will show:

   • Full tooth impressions
   • Deep gum lines
   • Smooth edges
   • No smudging or dragging
   • No double bite
   • No low spots or shallow teeth

   If your mold looks off, it’s better to redo it now than to wait weeks only to hear it wasn’t usable.

8. Step 8

   Let It Air-Harden  

   It is a good idea to let the mold sit for 20–30 minutes to finish curing before shipping it. 

9. Step 9

   Package Your Mold Securely

   Never toss the mold into an envelope loose.

   Proper packaging:

   • Place mold back into the mouth tray
   • Wrap it in bubble wrap
   • Put it in a padded envelope or box
   • Add a note with your order number and name

   If you use regular letter postage stamps on a mold package, USPS may return it or reject it.

10. Step 10
